This week’s points of interest…..

Don’t have time to read all of this? Skim the page for the highlighted sections!

We are looking forward to seeing you here at Lincoln Prep at our evening meeting next Wednesday, Sept 13th at 7:00 pm. If you have not been able to attend morning meetings, this is a great opportunity to get involved. We will be discussing important topics such as what our Fundraising Committee will be used for. What you feel our school needs most? Tables in the courtyard for your children to enjoy lunch? Shades? Athletic needs such as lights and a scoreboard? Take this opportunity to be involved in decision making. Otherwise, the fact is, those who participate in meetings or offer to take action will make your decisions and set goals for you. Come be a part of the change you would like to see! Dr. Mitchell will be in attendance for questions as well.

Plan on bringing the family to the Lincoln Prep rollerskating social at USA’s Skateland in Chandler on Friday, September 22nd from 7:00-10:00pm. Tickets are $6 and skates can be rented for $3.50. Tracy Vickery surveyed the students during our last event and the students are excited that this has been planned! Drop them off and head to dinner, or stay and socialize with other families. Several PSO members will be staying (and skating of course!), and we would love to visit with you.

Looking ahead to exciting events includes what is going on during Spirit Week here at Lincoln Prep! Our Lincoln Prep Spirit Week will be October 2-6. The first ever Lincoln Prep Homecoming Dance will held on Saturday, September 30th. The homecoming football game will be here at Lincoln Prep’s field on Monday, October 2nd. There will be more information regarding these very special events when details are finalized by September 15th. Stay tuned for information. The details will be published as soon as we receive them.

Another lovely event planned is The Great Hearts Gala, set for September 23rd. It is a fundraiser for teacher professional development. Funds raised at the Gala will help us address the critical need for more high-quality teachers in Arizona and will help provide professional development programs for over 1,000 teachers throughout the Valley. Read more about this very important event here: http://greatheartsgala.greatheartsacademies.org/

We do have a few volunteer needs this week. The school nurse is in need of a volunteer from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm on at least the next 4 Friday afternoons. The volunteer will need to be comfortable taking temperatures, giving ice packs and applying bandages when needed. The nurse will be on campus working on medical files so she will handle any medications and severe injuries. If you are available to help, please email her at nbutton@lincolnprep.org.

Two of our volunteers are in need of a laser printer for printing locker tags for our student athletes. If you are able to assist with this request, please contact us at PSO@lincolnprep.org.

We are always in need of lunch volunteers. We are very pleased to see some new faces and new names on the sign up. Thanks so much to all of the volunteers, and thanks to the dads who signed up after only a bit of encouragement! Thank you very much to the Archway lunch volunteers who assisted us this week when they saw we did not have enough help. Lunch is a fun way to meet other parents and see who your children are hanging out with at school. To volunteer for lunch, please sign up here.

As always, all volunteers need to be fingerprinted and cleared before volunteering on campus or attending a field trip. If you are in need of fingerprinting information, please visit our Volunteer page.

A miscellaneous note to touch on this week includes the Lincoln Prep Board meeting date. The next date has not yet been announced. As soon as that information is available, it will be posted. If you are interested in voicing a concern regarding Lincoln Prep, this is a great place to be heard. The first twenty minutes are open to the public to be heard.

Additionally, I have requested information regarding Lincoln Prep’s Community Investment Campaign from the Great Hearts Lead Office about how those dollars are allocated. Look for that information in next week’s blog post.

Thanks for taking the time to read this week’s blog. Have a great weekend with your families.
