Thank you to everyone who attended the PSO meeting yesterday. It was also a pleasure to introduce our new Director of Academy Giving, Ronna Krantzman. We are so grateful to Ronna for stopping in! Anyone who missed the meeting and would like me to email a copy of the minutes can email me, Terry Burget (PSO President) at PSO@LincolnPrep.org. I can get them out to you as soon as they are typed up.
Several passive fundraising ideas were discussed at the PSO meeting. One of our new parents has graciously offered to research and implement some passive fundraising programs such as Scrip, the Target Red Card Program and rewards programs through some of the local grocery stores. If you have any ideas that you would like to discuss and assist in implementing, please email me at PSO@LincolnPrep.org,
In the meantime, we would like to remind you of some ways you can help earn money for Lincoln Prep. We collect Boxtops and printer/ink cartridges in the Lincoln Prep Office. You can leave them at the front desk and they will be deposited in the PSO collection bins. Another way to benefit our school is through Amazon Smile. Please take advantage of this during the holiday season and as you do your Black Friday Shopping! Here is how you can set it up:

Choose Lincoln Preparatory Academy as your charity. You can use your same Amazon.com account for Amazon Smile.
On your first visit to Amazon Smile, go to smile.amazon.com. Select the charitable organization first, before shopping.
Amazon Smile donates 0.5% of purchase price to Lincoln Prep each quarter! Our donation amounts to date have been somewhat dismal. We would love our families to start participating in this. Please set it up, and then tell a friend to do so as well!! You are going to do holiday shopping regardless, so why not have a percentage come back to your children?
Volunteerism was a big topic at the meeting. Thank you so much to so many of our Lincoln Prep families that have been answering the call to duty! We are so grateful for any time or donations that you have provided this year. We have sent out many Sign Up Genius’ this year and all have been well received. Many people who have not had time to volunteer this year have been contributing generously to our Teacher Appreciation events. It has been very much noticed. THANK YOU!
The PSO Vice President position is yet to be filled. If you are interested in filling the position, having a big voice in what goes on, and sitting in the meeting that I have with Dr. Mitchell every two weeks (hmmm…..those sound like fringe benefits, don’t they?) feel free to remain silent no more. Frankly, the toughest part of the school year for the PSO Board members is done. If you would like to visit with me and talk about the position, you can find me in the LP conference room on most mornings until 9am. You are welcome to drop in, or you can email me and we can set up an appointment.
Speaking of assistance, I am looking for a volunteer to assist with a PSO booth at the Lincoln Prep Information Night next Wednesday, November 15th, here at Lincoln Prep. We will be answering questions from prospective families, and talking to them about the functions of the PSO. You know the drill by now…..please email me if you are willing to volunteer. Thanks!
Also, it was mentioned at the meeting that some volunteers would like us to re-post the lunch Sign Up Genius as a reminder for them. No problem! If you haven’t viewed the lunch sign up for the next three months, please take a viewing and sign up here.
We have many great events and on-goings prior to the Winter Break. There is a field trip, Athletic Events, Student Life Night, Fine Arts Night, final exams and more. We realize it is a busy time for EVERYBODY, so we very much appreciate our volunteers pulling together. We really need all hands on deck to get through the end of the year!
Please remember that you must have your fingerprint clearance to volunteer, even to chaperone field trips. There will be a fingerprinting session here at the Lincoln campus on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10:30-12:30. For additional information regarding fingerprinting, please visit the Volunteer Page of the PSO website, or email me and I’ll be happy to answer questions or give you a ride to Human Resources to get your prints done.
There are several updates to the Teacher Appreciation page, including all of the dates for events until the end of the quarter. Please visit the page to view Tracy’s important message regarding holiday gifts for teachers! You may use the menu bar, or click here.
I know this blog post was a big one, so thank you for staying tuned. See you around!
